Server-side tracking

Server-side tracking and server-side GTM setup.

Browser-only tags lose data to ad blockers, browser limits and consent gaps. Server-side tracking sends your events from a server container to GA4, Google Ads and Meta, so more of your real conversions are counted and you control what each platform receives.

What we set up

One clean server container, every platform fed correctly.

Your website sends events to a server-side Google Tag Manager container. It cleans and enriches the data, then forwards it to GA4, Google Ads, Meta and other platforms.

Server-side GTM

Server-side GTM on Stape or your own cloud, with a custom domain and a documented setup.

Meta Conversions API (CAPI)

Meta CAPI with event_id deduplication, so browser and server events are not double-counted.

Google Ads enhanced conversions

Enhanced and offline conversions so Google Ads optimises on the sales and leads you really get.

GA4 server-side tagging

Clean event and parameter naming, with GA4 fed from the server container.

Consent Mode v2

Consent Mode v2 configured correctly, so tracking respects user choices.

Shopify and WooCommerce

Purchase events checked against backend orders before anything goes live.

Questions

Straight answers about server-side tracking.

What is server-side tracking?

It sends event data from a server container, such as server-side Google Tag Manager, to GA4, Google Ads and Meta instead of relying only on the visitor's browser. It improves data accuracy, page speed and control over privacy.

Is server-side GTM worth it?

It usually helps most when ad spend is meaningful and browser-side tracking is losing conversions to blockers or browser limits. A short audit shows how much you are losing.

What is the difference between server-side tracking and Meta CAPI?

CAPI is Meta's server-to-server API. Server-side tracking is the wider setup that can send data to Meta through CAPI and to other platforms too.

How long does setup take?

A typical project runs two to three weeks including validation, depending on the number of sites, tags and conversion events.
