Swiss businesses work in German, French and Italian, sell in CHF and often in EUR too, and see TWINT at almost every checkout. Switzerland is outside the EU with its own data protection law. A GA4 consultant for Switzerland needs to handle all of that in one clean setup.
The revised Federal Act on Data Protection
The revised FADP came into force in September 2023 and is supervised by the FDPIC. It requires transparency about data processing, including analytics and advertising tags, and businesses that also serve EU customers usually apply GDPR-style consent with Google Consent Mode v2 as well.
Three problems we see in Swiss accounts
1. Three or four language versions split apart
/de/, /fr/ and /it/ versions often run with different tags. We unify them in one GA4 property with a language dimension.
2. TWINT and PostFinance redirects
TWINT app payments and PostFinance pages break sessions unless excluded as referrers.
3. CHF and EUR in one store
Stores selling into the EU need a correct currency code on every purchase, or GA4 revenue totals are wrong.
How we set it up
- Consent banner and Consent Mode v2 in every site language
- Server-side GTM hosted in Switzerland or the EU
- Meta Conversions API and Google Ads enhanced conversions
- Net revenue without 8.1% VAT for ad platforms

FAQ
Does GDPR apply to Swiss companies?
It can, when they offer goods or services to people in the EU. Many Swiss companies follow both laws.
